Human Zoo (2009)
In Marseille, the young Serbian-Albanian Adria Shala is an illegal immigrant traumatized by her past. Every now and then Adria recalls her life in Kosovo, when she was saved from rape by a deserter called Srdjan Vasiljevic in 1999. They move to Belgrade where Srdjan becomes a gangster, dealing weapons and becoming an assassin. Adria learns how to shoot and helps Srdjan with his work at first, becoming his mistress later.
Angel-A (2005) Rie Rasmussen is BACK!!! as writer, (debut) director and actress - in this romantic drama with grit and guns. She rocked this one, and this was indeed somethin’ to catch.
Thank you Kevin Smith! for posting this on twitter… over and over again. The director comedian extraordinaire was right - this was pretty badass.
An epic film (time wise) that has everything. Action packed romance like the 80s 90s feminine assassin films. Realistic in many ways, not the flashy Hollywood killer chick flicks. It brought me back to thinking about Leon: The Professional (1994).
This had a style of it’s own and entertained me from start to end. How romantic, and tragic!
At times there were bits that were hard to follow, but it all pans out in the end. Excellent production accompanied by brilliant and honest acting.
English, Serbian, French and Albanian = bring out your universal translators.
A good and solid 1st outing for the Directress.
