  1. The Girl Who Played with Fire (2009) aka Flickan som lekte med elden

As computer hacker Lisbeth and journalist Mikael investigate a sex-trafficking ring, Lisbeth is accused of three murders, causing her to go on the run while Mikael works to clear her name.

A great follow-up to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009). I have been very intrigued by this crime/detective trilogy by Stieg Larsson. I was going to take a nap, but then i’ve decided to marathon part 3 after this review.

This story had elements i enjoyed, especially the physically altered/handicapped/special characters. It gives it that comic book style feel with characters with distinguishing appearances/traits.

There was sexual content, as the first film did, but this one had violence increasing in shock value. I’d say this had more action than the first. Acting was as superb as the first time around, perhaps better.

I was a bit upset Lisbeth dropped the whole goth/emo/dark look, and grew her hair long. Her character had to mature, i guess. I really liked that about her character, unafraid/rebellious. Noomi Rapace delivered the goods once again.

This has that Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) feel towards the end. Leaving things on a somber/unsettled way, that you know part 3 is gonna kick-ass!

This is a great crime trilogy, and gets my personal seal of approval.

And now, it’s time to watch The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest (2009).
