Justice League: Doom (2012)
Vandal Savage steals confidential files Batman has compiled on the members of the Justice League, and learns all their weaknesses.
The television voice actors go straight to video…
My 1st thought: It’s a modern Challenge of the SuperFriends (1978)! It even has the bubble type headquarters that rises from the bog.
The Legion of Doom!!!
Batman is a douche - he secretly devises ways to disable his teammates in case of a “problem”. And loses it to the hands of the baddies, who use it against the league.
Vandal Savage is the main villain, i’m not too familiar with his background… And WHAT THE FUCK. Cyborg??? really? i mean REALLY?So the basic story goes around WHY Batman would do such a thing. It’s for you own safety fools! One thing i disliked was how they resolved the solar flare dilemma… c’mon, it follows the space dust - captain obvious would say?
Audiences are treated to some one-on-one action between the heroes and adversaries - i wasn’t familiar with some of them… maybe thats why i didn’t quite enjoy this. I felt left out.
Not the best, not the worse. The animation was typical (TV) and the story wasn’t compelling enough to grab hold of my full attention. Understandably straight to video. Another way-too-convenient ‘toon.

Chronicle (2012)
Three high school students make an incredible discovery, leading to their developing uncanny powers beyond their understanding. As they learn to control their abilities and use them to their advantage, their lives start to spin out of control, and their darker sides begin to take over.
Origins: Good and Evil collide!!! Sparked by angst, abuse and power!
I honestly thought it was gonna be a big budget Hollywood B.S. flick…
What a thrilling surprise it was to catch this little film, about great power and responsibility. I mocked the idea at first… the final product got my respect.
The new boys! “still waters run deep” Andrew (Dane DeHaan), “Best dude” Matt (Alex Russell) and “Mr. President” Steve (Michael B. Jordan) fly high and touch the sky. An impressive starring debut for the 3 gentlemen. I had my initial doubts and worries, In the end they did the job well.
Written & Directed by relative unknowns, this superpower film kicked ass! in more ways than one. BUT… you know you’ve seen this before… Tweaked a bit and reoriented for the American market… Akira (1988) - TELL ME I’M NOT RIGHT? I DARE YOU.
Sci-fi, action, adventure, fantasy and drama!!! What a mouthful.
Bullied boys and Cool kids, let evil and good brood. The roots of madness and kindness are captured by the buddy trio and their fantastic journey within themselves. We all want powers! Jealousy got the best of me… damn.
The “captured footage” angle has been drawn out and so has the “superpower” genre. How did this film kickass? Good writing and directing. The visual effects were neat and the action (in the end) was epic! Akira!
Not a shaky as some would think. Clean edits between different video recorders and security cams remind people that this is a “fun film”.
They’re sold me my own dream - it’s been a while since i’ve felt this way about a film. Especially one that i initially dissed/mocked (without proof). I am now a believer, no longer a doubter.
Sometime y’gotta give a film a chance, it may surprise you - with its inner strength.

Underworld Awakening (2012)
The vampire warrioress Selene escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.
Kate Beckinsale does it a 3rd time! That Body DAMN.
The vamp-wolf franchise has reached the stratosphere!!! Like most films that stretch their time, diluted by sequel after sequel and the “Lycan ” prequel.
It was like a sic-fi horror video game. The story simply does not compute… Visually it was as brilliant as it’s predecessors. Action and production was great. There was a “fun factor” despite the dryness of written content.
A child is now in the mix - yeah, that was original. It was ok for what it was… we all know what to expect… Hollywood.

The Devil Inside (2012)
In Italy, a woman becomes involved in a series of unauthorized exorcisms during her mission to discover what happened to her mother, who allegedly murdered three people during her own exorcism.
I had HUGE expectations… not as frightening as i’d hope…
Another one of those fake/faux documentaries to add to the list… A supernatural horror where a “REAL” The Exorcist (1973) is captured on film.
The discussions about possession/exorcisms/rites was interesting. The dialogue could have used more work though. The pace of the investigation was a bit tiresome.
“Performing exorcisms without the church’s permission” - You know you’re fucked.
Medication, psychology and religion.
Acting wise, they all did well and Fernanda Andrade was convincing enough. The nun! oh boy… The frights and freak-outs were respectable. The content of the film was intriguing enough to keep viewers interested.
WARNING: Prepare yourselves for shaky camera work. And Shrieking.
It’s a 50/50 film. Love it, hate it - it’s in the genre. You know it’s fake. Sit back and appreciate the effort in selling a “fake/real” film.
And in the end, we’ve seen it all before.
The BEST exorcism flick i’ve seen as of late has got to be The Rite (2011).

Transit (2012)
A family on a road trip is stalked by criminals who stashed stolen money in their car.
Jim Caviezel… what happened to you?
So a family goes on a trip and criminals decide to hide their stash in the baggage… The chase begins. Pretty straight forward and simple, we’ve all seen this before. Nothing new… and what the fuck was with the baddies? Nothing about this seemed/looked believable. Sad.
Attempts at twists were pathetic. Some pretty shots here and there… I was not amused. Cool car though.
Me no gusta.

2012 (2009)
An epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.
What a disaster! I made it through to the end of the film… what an epic fail. It was visually stimulating but… nothing there. Put it along side The day After Tomorrow (2004)
