  1. Snowtown (2011)

Based on true events, 16 year-old Jamie falls in with his mother’s new boyfriend and his crowd of self-appointed neighborhood watchmen, a relationship that leads to a spree of torture and murder.

Based on a true story and the books: The Snowtown Murders by Andrew McGarry and Killing for Pleasure by Debi Marshall.

Disturbing! and a brutal Aussie flick by director Justin Kurzel. The horror of humanity.

Trapped in a world of violence and sexual frustrations. John is a sick motherfucker. Come Jaime join John in the dark side. This brings up WHY vigilantes are a threat to society.

The “Bodies in Barrels” murdersstory of the most famous Australia serial killer John Bunting.

The acting was SUPERB! You can feel they went “all in” on their performances. Everyone played their part well and delivered one of the most traumatizing films from down under.

Rape, pedophilia and murder. The pacing was a bit slow, but the weight of the issues tackled kept me glued. You just know in the back of your head “This will not end well” - for our characters.

TRIVIA: More than 250 suppression orders prevented publication of details of this case. In early 2011, a judge lifted the remaining orders in response to a request by the producers of the film Snowtown, a dramatic account of the murders.

Deep and brave in many ways. Not an award winning piece, one that opens eyes. Clean and properly done.

Abuse in it’s purest form. Evil camouflaged. Mankind at its worst.

  2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991)

The Turtles and the Shredder battle once again, this time for the last cannister of the ooze that created the Turtles, which Shredder wants to create an army of new mutants.

    “Cowabunga dudes!!!”

The heroes in a half shells are back for some more tubular action and radical laughs! A couple of changes and additions to the franchise. Watching this again made me realize this had lots more to offer “the youth” than the first movie.

I loved how the whole opening sequence focused on PIZZA!

Lessons! The whole “doesn’t matter how you were brought to the world, it’s what you make of yourself”, “finding one’s destiny”, “not to give up” and “the gift of youth and the value of experience”. These were nice touches to the film, giving it a positive light.

The Turtles fight the evil nasty dudes, led by a resurrected Shredder. Part 2 involves the “Ooze” which mutated the Turtles and Splinter, into awesome! Evil creates Tokka and Rahzar, characters made by the original creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, which disappointed fans of the cartoon series. What happened to Bebop and Rocksteady?!?

What i enjoyed was the separation of Rafael from the group, in the comics the dudes a badass rebel. Who goes out at night as a (solo) vigilante a lot. I suggest checking out the violent TMNT comic books.

The fights were slightly improved and the gangs were still lame. Paige Turco was a better/hotter April O’Neil! Mad scientist “legend” David Warner does what he does best. And Ernie Reyes Jr. begins his journey into the spotlight.

Holy fuck Vanilla Ice!!! “Go ninja, Go ninja, Go!” - i totally forgot about this part. And upon doing some research i found out WWE/wresting superstar Kevin Nash was Super Shredder.

Dedicated to the memory of “Puppet Master” Jim Henson.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1993) was just too kiddie for me. TMNT (2007) was a good attempt at bringing them back, but CGI just didn’t do it for me. What i am excited for is the “possible/rumored” comeback of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012).

  3. Howard the Duck (1986)

A sarcastic humanoid duck is pulled from his homeworld to Earth where he must stop an alien invader.

Based on the Marvel comics character: Howard the Duck, by Steve Gerber.

This was a funny re-visit. I actually like this. It’s dumb i know. But i grew up to this horrible George Lucas produced film.

A cult classic for those who grew up renting VHS tapes, and watched terrible late night cable tv movies. This was definitely an 80s flick, only then could movies like this be made.

The star of the film is a creepy-eyed duck… the longer you stare, the funnier it gets.

As a kid, i liked this. And as an adult i can say that i still feel the same way. Fuckin’ good shit here. Good shit, literally.

Lea Thompson rockin’ the hair, and molesting a duck… I completely forgot her band sang a song called “Howard the duck” at the end. Freakin’ cheesy. I rember Jeffrey Jones as monstrous badass alien and… “what the hell???”… Tim Robbins?!?!? He was IN THIS??? Holy Shit! The geek!

All this (crap) plus the worst soundtrack for an 80s flick EVER. The music beats the “Quack-Fu” joke. If you wanna catch a terribly good comic adaptation check this film out.

  4. All-Star Superman (2011)

Scientists are exploring the Sun when they are sabotaged by a booby-trapped, genetically enhanced Lex Luthor clone. Superman saves the day. Lex Luthor has orchestrated this to overwhelm Superman’s cells with a massive amount of yellow solar radiation. Superman decides to keep his impending death secret from the public.

based on the award-winning series from writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely.

*Grant Morrison’s approach to writing this series was to make the reading as universal as possible. He stated that he wasn’t interested in “re-doing origin stories or unpacking classic narratives” but instead wanted to do “a total update, rehaul and refit”.

So, here’s what i have to say “What The Fuck It This???”. Morrison is one of the few writers i currently follow, and no way did he make such dribble. The man is a genius (see his Batman issues), they fuckin’ raped his successful series. Raped! Ass-fucked and turned to a crack whore of a cartoon.

Within minutes you realize that the “humor” is bad. Lines grabbed out of a childrens book. I cannot count how many times i “face palmed” while watching this. Goddamn cheesy! And not in that “old school” way.

This was all over the place! was it because they crammed up 12 issues in an hour??? what a mess, even the voice (direction/editing) acting was… lame… the execution of lines were terrible. The animation was also simple, not like the newer DC animations to have come out recently. This was fucking weird…

So we have Lex Luthor battling Superman (again), and some interstellar shit goes down, Superman reveals his secret to Lois Lane… because he wants to spend his remaining time with her (what a pussy) and he gives her (his) superpowers for 24 hrs. bwahahahahaha!

An amusing re-vamp of the Iconic hero’s story. I like the pace of the film ‘cuz it went by fast, my eyes were full. But the execution, dialogue and animation were just… “TV average”. I love DC animations so i’m a bit biased… this is the worst i’ve seen since starting this blog.

This film is for fans… of DC, Superman and Grant Morrison. Newbies may be confused by the “new” story. And fans of the series may (most likely) hate it as well… Goddamn, i was smiling/giggling the whole time… Ri-di-cu-fuckin-lous.

The odd thing is that i was actually entertained… fuckin’ weird. So bad it’s good? Sorta.

Somebody deserves to get dragged out in the streets and shot in the head.

  5. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002)

An adaptation of the cult memoir of game show impresario Chuck Barris, in which he purports to have been a CIA hitman.

Director George Clooney brings us a nice and quirky biographical tale. Living a double life… Wonderfully done! A great comedy of twists and turns that veer to the dark, acted by modern cinemas finest. what more could you ask for?

Sam Rockwell is awesome as Chuck Barris, author and star of this story. A story that makes you wonder, even after viewing… captivating from the very beginning.

Be sure to grab a copy. It’s quite good. And watch out for a few cameos.

  6. Tank Girl (1995)

Based on the British cult comic-strip, our tank-riding anti-heroine fights a mega-corporation, which controls the world’s water supply.

I freakin’ LOVE this movie. The comic book was ridiculously funny and the movie was a great interpretation. Ice-T rocks as a bad-ass kangaroo!

***The photo above really reminded me of this! it’s probably the head-gear.
