Conan the Barbarian (2011)
The tale of Conan the Cimmerian and his adventures across the continent of Hyboria on a quest to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village.
A modern version of the 1982 classic action adventure fantasy. Based on the stories of Robert E. Howard.
Khal Drogo lives! Jason Momoa brought the hero back to life, he ain’t no Schwarzenegger, nevertheless portrayed the hero well. A good stepping stone for his leading man career.
And look, surprises! Ron Perlman as the father of Conan?!? Sweet. And the beautifully horrendous Rose McGowan! I’m upset her project with Robert Rodriguez “Red Sonja” didn’t push through… Red Sonja was a spinoff of the original Conan novels.
It looked and felt like the original, and maybe that’s where the fault lies for it’s mediocrity. They stuck to the old formula, which was not welcomed by modern day cinema goes and critics. It was a good attempt.
This did not impress early viewers, take it for what it is… a “rental”.
See it for what it is, a musclebound hero gutting and slashing his way to revenge. Conan.
