Daisies (1966) aka Sedmikrásky
The life of two girls, Marie I and Marie II, who try to understand the meaning of the world and of their life.
“Ring-a-round a rosie, A pocket full of posies, Ashes! Ashes! We all fall down”
Ladies RULE! A empowering Czechoslovakian film written and directed by Vera Chytilová. Blazed by an era of political injustice and inequality.
Two lovely girls decide to take the world as their oyster (taking advantage of men and acting like spoiled children) which slowly eats away at their sanity leading to a path of destruction. If the world is bad, then we should be bad. Wait… are we bad or good?
Satirical and ingenious film making, visually pop art-ish.Self-destruction has never been this beautiful. The editing and different types of artsy (color/tint) visuals will keep your eyes busy.
Was it controversial? Well… It was banned by the government… That only means one thing… this film gave them the finger!
Robotic slapstick humor. Watch out world, the girls have an appetite for destruction! To hell with the rules!
Be still my beating heart! Jitka Cerhová is the daisy-crowned sister with eyes that could melt a glacier. Be careful of what lies beneath. And then the pigtail sister Ivana Karbanová steps in the limelight… damn these brunettes. The ladies used my eyes as string to their tug-of-war battle for attention.
Cutting sausages and bananas!
The ladies indulge and digress, cut each other up leading towards the climactic food fight in the end… they attempt to pick up the pieces, but alas… what has been done is done.
Set in a place and time ruled by machinery and work. War and destruction is everywhere and we are merely audience members.
Gorgeous visuals and quirky lines drive this film into hell and back. Sweet little girls trapped, wondering, experimenting, playing with fire.
As someone quoted “This is a film that everyone needs to Czech out.”

DMT: The Spirit Molecule (2010)
An investigation into the long-obscured mystery of dimethyltryptamine (DMT), a molecule found in nearly every living organism and considered the most potent psychedelic on Earth.
Hosted by advocate Joe Rogan.
Open your mind! Let’s do drugs!
Laboratory tests (sanctioned by the government) and testimonials: Rabbi, Pharmacologist, Psychologist, Ethnobotanist, doctors, nurse and subjects.
Dr. Rick Strassman gives his findings…
This documentary is purely focused on dimethyltryptamine (DMT), which is found in most living things.
The test subjects speak of “experiences” and an enlightening journey into the universe and their minds.
Science and spirituality find a common ground? In a matter of speaking. A transcending ”trip” into who we are. The subjects share a common denominator that makes this “trip” interesting… And i AM CURIOUS.
Drugs are bad m’kay? But in a laboratory - it’s all good.

Stay Tuned (1992)
A husband and wife are sucked into a hellish TV and have to survive a gauntlet of twisted versions of TV shows they find themselves in.
A goddamn classic! I was ADDICTED to TV (as a teen) and loved surprises on after midnight showings… This is one of those films that made me laugh out loud, and had so many memorable scenes.
John Ritter, Pam Dawber, (always EVIL) Jeffrey Jones and Eugene Levy!!! These were the famous faces of the times. So many memories…
Karma of couch potatoes! We get the “Twilight Zone-ish” story of making a deal with the devil. Living Television. When you think about it, this could even be called a horror. This comedic mockery was a wake-up call for those glued on the boob tube.
TRIVIA: Based on a story that aired on Unsolved Mysteries.
I loved the programs on Hell TV and wanted them to be actual shows. Three Men and Rosemary’s Baby, You Can’t Win, Underworld Wrestling League, Autopsies of the Rich and Famous, The Silencer of the Lambs (commercial), Meet The Mansons, Different Strokes, Saturday Nite Dead - Duane’s World was my favorite! and Driving Over Miss Daisy.
one of the highlights for lead actor John Ritter was the Three’s Company (1976-84) spoof. In which he starred in! 80s kid.
The end credits also tickled my fancy: Beverly Hills 90666, I Love Lucifer, The Golden Ghouls, Murder She Likes, Fresh Prince of Darkness and Unmarried With Children.
The movie was so-so (especially if you watch it now) but it gave me that good ol’ time feeling that i had when i first caught it. Yeah, it has lost its luster… nevertheless a film to check out.
Where are the family comedies like this? Forgotten… let us remember.
I haven’t had TV for 4 years now… IT IS LIBERATING.

The Bunny Game (2010)
A prostitute looking for her next meal hitches a ride with a trucker that leaves her praying for her next breath.
Unrelenting violence from (newbie) writer/director Adam Rehmeier. Writing? I dunno about that… this was inching towards the |Snuff category. Directing is more of what he did…
Beautifully shot torture and rape! Bordering porn, the first sequence shows our depraved druggie damsel performing oral sex on a male figure. I really couldn’t tell rather didn’t want to investigate further if this was a prosthetic penis. WOW. yeah, it starts off with that…
The talent really came from our heroin coke fiend lead Rodleen Getsic. She sold me the fear and pain. At some points i wondered how much was “planned”, some of this shit looked real.
Thankfully the decent (and yet amateurish) black and white camera shots and editing work reminded me “this is just a horror film, trying to be a snuff”. Story-wise there was really nothing here but pain and suffering all throughout. At times i have to say it got old and boring. Nothing really made it stand out like some films with ridiculous premises. They tried a teenie tiny bit with the whole “play the bunny game” - which ended up being LAME and anti-climactic.
I can’t wait for the director to present something with meat. Or something along the lines of Hostelish Centipides from Serbia (if ya know what i mean).
Has the torture genre lost its grip on me? Perhaps. But as i always say “someone’s gotta watch it”.
So-so brutal film for those who “seek it out”. I knew what i was getting into and was in the mood for something sick, had i not been craving for something to block off the demons of my day… this would have been a FAIL.
Not a movie for everyone…

The Muppets (2011)
With the help of three fans, The Muppets must reunite to save their old theater from a greedy oil tycoon.
Has it been 12 years?!?!?
The Director of The Flight of the Conchords and Da Ali G Show brings new live to a legendary troupe of wacky puppets. James Bobin has done well!
Starring… THE MUPPETS!!! And a barrage of famous faces like: The lovable couple (writer/actor) Jason Segel and Amy Adams, The maniacal Chris Cooper as the evil oil baron (his rap bit was gold.) and a whole lotta comedians and celebs!!! Rashida Jones, Alan Arkin, Zach Galifianakis, Ken Jeong, Jim Parsons, Kristen Schaal, Sarah Silverman, Donald Glover, Emily Blunt, James ”The Ragin’ Cajun” Carville, Whoopi Goldberg, Selena Gomez, Neil Patrick Harris, Dave Grohl as “Animool” and last but not least Mr. Jack Black.
Walter finds out that his heroes have gone their separate ways, and that the Muppet Studio is being taken over by a vicious business tycoon. The gang get back together to save the day!
Simple right? well… so have all the past films of our furry friends. The humor, wit and slapstick comedy formula works for them again! Past gags were revisited and i really dug the way the Muppets have grown up. A great balance of mature and immature.
TRIVIA: Rico Rodriguez; who plays Manny on Modern Family; asks Kermit if he’s a Ninja Turtle. The Muppets were made by Jim Henson, who also made the animatronics for the live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) film and its sequel.
I couldn’t stop singing/shouting out loud “Am i a Muppet or a man?!?”, absolutely addicting. And it was no surprise why The Flight of the Conchords (2007) Bret McKenzie won an Oscar for “Man or Muppet”.
Some said that this film was black propaganda against oil companies… YEAH, because burning fuel is good for us… how? Greed plays a big role in this film and to say the Muppets are bad… is a sin in itself. Shame on you finger pointers. Give us cheaper fuel! Stop the goddamn war.
The new character “Walter” was annoying in the beginning, but he just grew on me like a filthy sponge. the film was about “saving the Muppets” and bringing them back to the limelight. I truly believe that mission was accomplished.
Tremendous family fun!!! and the return of my teachers. I became a kid again and gave me a mile wide smile.

Iron Sky (2012)
The Nazis set up a secret base on the moon in 1945 where they hide out and plan to return to power in 2018.
FUN and SMART!
Nazi’s are hiding on the Dark Side of the Moon! They have come to reclaim the earth.
A socio-political laugh-fest for the young and old. The humor was witty and dumb enough to keep me glued on the screen throughout the film. Decent effects (though a little cheesy at times) and a better story than i had initially expected…
This is rambunctious sci-fi comedy that we (modern society) can learn from. Sometimes the past sneaks up on us and reveals situations that are timeless in nature. Change begins with a smile.
Women rule! Julia Dietze shines as the “am i good or am i bad” Nazi. She was gorgeous and succeeded in making this film one to reckon with. Another lady who caught my eye was Peta Sergeant, she was superbly delectable.
All hail Udo Kier!!! Poor bastard always plays a Nazi. But the does it “like a boss”. Bringing home the bacon is comedian Christopher Kirbyas as the racially confused “Gray” James Washington. His dilemma in the film was simply hilarious.
TRIVIA: More than 10 percent of funding for this film came from fans. The donors are listed in the credits.
I loved the spoof of “youtube: Hitler Reacts to…” scene. Pop culture at its best!
The final confrontation was like a monster movie… instead of giant beasts we were given Nazi’s in a humongous space battleship! Excellent!
The horror of nuclear war is upon us! (again?) or is it? Man is his own worst enemy. We have the power to destroy ourselves, if we succumb to “orders of men”. People will always try to screw each other. Trust is something we all have to take care of… Everyone is ready to fuck each other up at a moments notice.
Some may criticize the “science” behind it all - need i remind you this is a spoof? Sit back laugh and enjoy the mindlessness.
A great comedy with substance! Believe it or not.

My Week with Marilyn (2011)
Colin Clark, an employee of Sir Laurence Olivier’s, documents the tense interaction between Olivier and Marilyn Monroe during production of The Prince and the Showgirl.
Based on the books/memoirs of Colin Clarke: “My Week with Marilyn” and “The Prince, the Showgirl and Me”.
Michelle Williams embodied Marilyn Monroe and owned it. A completely believable portrayal of one the most infamous women of showbiz.
Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh, Emma Watson and Judi Dench are her equally talented supports. Need i remind viewers? This is all about Marilyn. She wouldn’t have wanted it any other way… or would she?
Sir Laurence Olivier is making a movie and employs neophyte Colin Clark. He creates a bond with the unmanageable Marilyn and unlocks secrets and fears of the superstar. This all happens during the making of Prince and the Showgirl (1957), one of Monroe’s best acting accomplishments.
TRIVIA: The reenactments of scenes from The Prince and the Showgirl were filmed on the very same soundstage that the original was filmed on.
This movie was fun and easy to view, a bit too soft and gentle for my taste. But Williams drove it home, as if reincarnating a legend and putting her in the modern stage once again. Sadly the film has nothing else to offer but “Marilyn”…
Moms, daughters, agents and curious menfolk would appreciate this quaint little (romantic drama) taste of film history, from the eyes of a starstruck gentleman.
Remember “Fame can be a Bitch”

Haywire (2011)
A black ops super soldier seeks payback after she is betrayed and set up during a mission.
Directed by always artsy and glossy Steven Soderbergh and starring a barrage of talent! What could go wrong? In the spy business… everything.
The relatively unknown Gina Carano stars in this action packed game of lies and deceit. She’s backed up by some (very) familiar faces, which i believe the ladies (of all ages) would cream over: Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas and “holy shit! it’s Bill Paxton!”
Assassins sent on a mission, betrayal by superiors happen and the guns start blazin’!
TRIVIA: The very first and very last word of the movie are the same: “Shit.” The hero says it at the beginning, and the arch-villain at the end.
A thrill ride that went sour… Some of the fight sequences were (well choreographed) great! A whole lot goes on action-wise but fails to hit my expectations. It’s a conspiracy film with plot holes and inconsistencies (i had to read the movie info to make sure this was a Soderbergh film). Possibly the directors “weakest film” yet.
The overall pacing of the film was quite slow. This was a great platform for lead Gina Carano, who gives us a decent “female action star” performance.
My verdict? It was OK. Not bad and not good. Something to watch on a sunday afternoon. Proof that, Big stars doesn’t automatically equate to Big hit.

ATM (2012)
On a late night visit to an ATM, three co-workers end up in a desperate fight for their lives when they become trapped by an unknown man.
Another one of those “someone had to watch it” dismal horrors…
What the fuck did i just watch? Oh yeah, some assholes go to an ATM, and then a killer (with unclear motives) preys on them and picks them off one by one. Horribly predictable filled with clichés AND THE CHICK AIN’T EVEN HOT.
Was it a waste of my time? Indeed it was. The acting was a pain to watch and unrealistic as hell. The story? there was none.
I was brutally disappointment and wanted my download time/space back.
Absolutely Horrorble…

The Woman in Black (2012)
A young lawyer travels to a remote village where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman is terrorizing the locals.
Based on the novel by Susan Hill.
Harry Potter all grown up… “really???” The poor bastard is marked for life. Daniel Radcliffe jumps from kiddie to horror. Let’s take the “scarred” joke throughout this review shall we? Yeah. IT’S LIKE THAT.
Harry Potter is a lawyer up to his neck with problems. He is given one last chance to prove himself as a worthy asset to the firm. He arrives at a house haunted by a woman dressed in black, who preys on the villagers children. Potter must resolve the issue and solve the mystery of the lady…
I honestly thought to myself “i wasted time downloading this crap? and could have used my HD space for porn”. Goddamn Harry Potter…
Horror films… ”Horror films are a film genre seeking to elicit a negative emotional reaction from viewers by playing on the audience’s primal fears. They often feature scenes that startle the viewer, and the macabre and the supernatural are frequent themes. Thus they may overlap with the fantasy, supernatural, and thriller genres.”
Was this a horror film? by definition YES. This wouldn’t scare the panties off my grandma. Cheap thrills and “boo” scares. PG-13 -> There is NO SUCH THING AS A HORROR FILM WITH THAT RATING.
Where the hell was this film going? To the typical road of haunted houses. Simple as that. Oh yeah Harry Potter stars in it. BUT the real star of the show is “the location” and set. Awesome shit right there.
“It’s a classic approach” PLEASE. Watch a classic film if that’s the case. And trust me… people did not go to the theater because of the “story”.
To be fair… Potter CAN act…
A standard horror mystery movie which will go unnoticed.

Prometheus (2012)
A team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
Ridley Scott returns in the captains seat in this, H.R. Giger illustrated, Sci-Fi Fantasy Adventure Horror “prequel of sorts”.
TRIVIA: Producers Walter Hill and David Giler rejoin Ridley Scott for the first time in over 30 years since they first collaborated on Alien.
He announced in advance that “This will be an original movie and not a direct prequel to Alien Saga”. HAVING SAID THAT… we can forgive him for the (Obvious) Technological Anachronisms of the film (digital tech. in a prequel -> leading towards an analog film?!?!? = shut up).
“They went looking for our beginning. What they found could be our end.”
Darwin’s EVILution! Cheers to the visually stimulating and thought provoking intro. Alien engineers come to earth bearing biological science/weaponry and impregnate her with life.
The alien dies and from his death comes life… Sacrificing his/ones life for the sake of the world (sounds like someone familiar?). Playing along the lines of “Angels are actually aliens who brought us here long time ago, and would check up on us from time to time” (miraculous sighting of angels/holy beings + cave drawings/markings) - something certain people (non-theists & conspiracy theorists) like to toy with in their heads.
The “original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) Noomi Rapace is the leading lady in this tale of mankind’s search for truth. “MEOW!” Charlize Theron plays the sultry cold blooded leader of the pack, loved how that outfit grabbed her bod. Guy Pearce plays Peter Weyland!!! Also seen in the viral (fake) TED talk dated 2028 - http://www.weylandindustries.com/
And “The man” Michael Fassbender is the mechanical wrench to humanities plan. Giving robotics a new face to admire.
TRIVIA: The androids’ names in the Alien films follow an alphabetical pattern: in Alien it’s Ash, in Aliens and Alien³ it’s Bishop, in Alien: Resurrection it’s Call and in this film it’s David.
The adventures main goal was to find the “answer” and fulfill the selfish desire to obtain fountain of life. Sadly our heroes bump into a “survival of the fittest” dilemma. A conflict of destruction versus creation.
In Greek mythology, the Titan Prometheus was a servant of the gods, who stole and gave to mankind the gift of fire, an immeasurable benefit that changed the human race forever. This fit so well in the story, accidentally (i assume) bumping everything else about the movie of the way… The presence of some details (actors, technologies and scenarios) were just circumstantial, and at times silly. Examples would be: the rush surgery, the “snake” encounter, removal of the helmet = scientists being dumb (and disposable) in a classic horror sci-fi “wouldn’t you agree?”. If they did not make those mistakes, we wouldn’t have a film.
“It’s what I choose to believe” hahahahaha! I enjoyed the “backslap to religion’s face”, especially in a devout country such as ours. Did we watch the same film? The moon’s name in the film is LV-223! Have you ever read the bible verse Leviticus 22:3??? Yeah, thought so. There is no god, there are beings from another place responsible for our planet being the way it is.
The black fluid/mutagen is also a star! Call it evil… call it sin, call it change. I believe it to represent (inevitable) evolution. It was such a diverse agent making many possibilities doors open. A genetic infection which affects all forms of life, forcing it to adapt/mutate into what it is not at a fast rate. Which also explains the other Alien films and comic books (tiger, bull, snake Xenomorphs).
In the end i must say, this had spectacular cinematography (SFX) and a talented lead cast. Prometheus is thought provoking film that i thought it would be. Not a 100% Alien prequel but my hunger was satisfied. Even with the inclusion of a xenomorph ancestor was included!!!
Some bitched and moaned, some were happy with the razzle dazzle, others opened their minds and see past the film. For those who hate, give it another shot. For those critical about details, might i remind you this is a sci-fi film. And to the curious, watch it.
A science fiction fans (atheist) wet dream brought to the big screen! LOVELY.

Safe House (2012)
A young CIA agent is tasked with looking after a fugitive in a safe house. But when the safe house is attacked, he finds himself on the run with his charge.
A decent and mildly-impressive film by Daniel Espinosa.
Guns, hidden agendas, backstabbing and then some… the usual conspiracy game played out in a chase. Africa! (south)
CIA’s most wanted Denzel “sexual chocolate” Washington and (weakie rookie) Ryan “abs” Reynolds fight and entertain us with what they got. The usual, which was really tiresome to see. Don’t get me wrong, the acting was good with two amazing lead actors… it was cool… too cool… plot twist! yeah, again.
I LOVE Vera Farmiga. and the other overshadowed actors: Sam Shephard, Brendan Gleeson, and “have you seen this boy?” Robert Patrick.
The action and scenery was brilliant. And the story “he’s good, no he’s bad, no he’s good, Awww he’s bad again?”. The film lacked that hook of originality (gimmick) that would have stuck in my head.
Imitated and duplicated, executed better than most in the genre. A Sunday flick you can watch with dad. DEN-ZEL.

Justice League: Doom (2012)
Vandal Savage steals confidential files Batman has compiled on the members of the Justice League, and learns all their weaknesses.
The television voice actors go straight to video…
My 1st thought: It’s a modern Challenge of the SuperFriends (1978)! It even has the bubble type headquarters that rises from the bog.
The Legion of Doom!!!
Batman is a douche - he secretly devises ways to disable his teammates in case of a “problem”. And loses it to the hands of the baddies, who use it against the league.
Vandal Savage is the main villain, i’m not too familiar with his background… And WHAT THE FUCK. Cyborg??? really? i mean REALLY?So the basic story goes around WHY Batman would do such a thing. It’s for you own safety fools! One thing i disliked was how they resolved the solar flare dilemma… c’mon, it follows the space dust - captain obvious would say?
Audiences are treated to some one-on-one action between the heroes and adversaries - i wasn’t familiar with some of them… maybe thats why i didn’t quite enjoy this. I felt left out.
Not the best, not the worse. The animation was typical (TV) and the story wasn’t compelling enough to grab hold of my full attention. Understandably straight to video. Another way-too-convenient ‘toon.

Hugo (2011)
Set in 1930s Paris, an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station is wrapped up in a mystery involving his late father and an automaton.
Magical! Mashed up with steampunk fantasy elements.
Legendary director Martin Scorsese gives us a “fun for all ages” film.
1920 Paris! Hugo, played by Asa Butterfield, is a young boy who secretly manages the train stations’ clock and obsesses to repair a shiny robot, the only thing he has left of his deceased father. On his tail is the always funny Sasha Baron Cohen, the authority figure with a bum leg. Show me your smile.Wait, there’s more! Ben Kingsley plays the toymaker, with a cinematic secret. Christopher Lee as the librarian. Ray Winstone as the drunk and Jude Law as Hugos dad! Holy crap, what a cast!
Hitgirl Chloë Moretz befriends the boy and the adventure begins. Together they unearth the toymakers sad past leading the story towards the early days of motion pictures!!! WOW! This was a delightful surprise - my enthusiasm for the film (at the beginning) was at a low, thinking (i was under the impression) this was another sappy CGI kiddie flick. I was way off… Thankfully i was able to catch this wonderful movie.
TRIVIA: Hugo is Martin Scorsese’s first film in 3D.
The flashbacks superbly done and the rocket to the moon made me smile.
Hugo is a blatant love letter to the early days of cinema. I Enjoyed every bit of it. The steampunk gears, bolts and screws were the cherry on top, of this cinematic treat.
Finally! A family film that hits the nail on the head.
