Warrior (2011)
The youngest son of an alcoholic former boxer returns home, where he’s trained by his father for competition in a mixed martial arts tournament - a path that puts the fighter on a collision corner with his older brother.
They’ve come to FIGHT! and FIGHT they will!
MMA has come a long way from something shunned in a guilty pleasure corner, slowly inching it’s way into mainstream media.
Vicious brethren foes are Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton - both giving commendable performances. The drama and confrontations were grand and superb. Nick Nolte destroyed me with his shaky/regretful old man eyes. I almost shed a tear. The man is a living legend.
WHAT??? Kurt Angle as the ultimate asskicker “KOBA”! WWE fans will love this.
This surprised me with a left hook! The story had guts, the battles had glory and in the end my heart was full. Hope, Love, Respect and Pride are all put in a ring and guarantee to entertain.
Wanna fight? You got it!

Real Steel (2011)
Set in the near future, where robot boxing is a top sport, a struggling promoter feels he’s found a champion in a discarded robot. During his hopeful rise to the top, he discovers he has an 11-year-old son who wants to know his father.
Fighting robots!!! When i saw the trailer i instantly laughed out loud. And it made me remember a childhood toy: Rock Em Sock Em Robots!
A family film that’ll knock you off the living room couch. It’s directed by Shawn Levy, the man responsible for Night at the Museum 1 & 2. I think we ALL know what to expect.
Hugh Jackman stars in this father & son sci-fi. Can’t stop seeing Wolverine!!! The boxing bits made him look “cool” but overall his character was a douche. The main story reminded me of so many “fatherly” films. I loathe the kid… what a brat. 11 yrs old?!? really?
I posted the trailer sometime back and got a reply in regards to the story… Boxing robots, just like in Twilight Zone: Steel (1963). Which was based on a short story by Richard Matheson: I Am Legend (2007), What Dreams May Come (1998), Duel (1971), Stir of Echoes (1999) and The Box (2009).
A gigantic film with heart. Big budget 3D movie i’d settle with at home. The CGI work was brilliant, but the design of the robots were “kiddie” and simple. The history of robot fighting was believable enough to convince me of this type of future. I rode the fun.
Ridiculously convenient coincidences…
Overall it was as expected. Simple enough for kids to get, while giving adults a sneaky uppercut about parenthood.

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (2011)
A pre-Spartacus prequel about life in the House of Batiatus. In the opener, a younger Batiatus is placed in command of his father’s gladiator-training school, which leads him to use one of the most accomplished fighters to curry favor with a nobleman.
The gladiators are back! Ravishing ladies in waiting and blood thirsty brutes populate the iconic world/era. Kill or be killed, survival of the fittest socially/economically.
I’ve been twisting my knickers like a little girl (anxiously) waiting for this series! Lucy Lawless’ and the mighty Batiatus John Hannah play their hierarchical roles once again, but younger. The rise of a (novice gladiator) legend, Manu Bennett as Crixus!!! And a few more of our favorite heroes and villains from the 1st season.
Best wishes to Andy Whitfield, who’s still battling cancer. The show can’t be called “Spartacus” without Spartacus. Hopefully this prequel will give him the time to heal, so that he may return to the arena.
Gods of the Arena, revolves around the story of the original Champion of the House of Batiatus: Gannicus. Played by Aussie Dustin Clare. Lookin’ a bit like Achilles of Troy (2004) mixed with the humor of Leonidas from 300 (2006). One badass fighter… “ridiculously” good.
This show jumps at you from beginning… to end! This has everything fans loved from the 1st series: sex, violence, nudity, blood, gore and lesbian love! I LOVE THIS SHOW.
Great work by director Jesse Warn, who also did 3 episodes of Spartacus: Blood and Sand (2010). I WANT MORE!!!

The King of Fighters (2010)
Live-action feature based on the video game “King of Fighters”.
My review… WTF. I mean seriously, WHAT THE FUCK?!? This is the lamest/shittiest fighting game adaptation ever!
This is so bad it makes Tekken (2010) look good.
They completely massacred the story… the costumes were off/not true to the game… and the fight scenes were so badly choreographed… man even the “effects” sucked, just like Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers (1993).
Maggie Q leads the cast as Mai Shiranui (the bouncing boob babe of the pixel age). And playing the villain is Ray Park, best known as Darth Maul. None of these two have the star power/fighting skills to save this film… Utter crap.
The people responsible for this disgrace, should be dragged to the streets and beaten to death with an ugly stick.
Avoid this movie if possible. They say curiosity killed the cat… prepare to die.

Tekken (2010)
A high-octane action movie about a young man who discovers he holds a great power and must battle a team of elite fighters who will stop at nothing in order to get it from him.
Oh boy, i should have seen this one coming…
So far, all movies based on Fighting games have been dismal and disappointing. This one’s no different. Most fighting games credit is the appearance of real people portraying their favorite characters. So let’s see, in the film we see: Jin, Heihachi, Kazuya, Anna & Nina Williams, Bryan Fury, Eddie Gordo, Law and Yoshimitsu. And a couple of characters i’m not sure are in the game (I’m not updated).
The acting is laughable and some of the fight scenes were done rather poorly. The script and cliche lines are just the tip of the iceberg. The costumes like: the “gloves” of Jin were a bit ridiculous and Heihachi’s “hair”, was just too funny. But no matter how bad i may say this film is, it remains true to the video game. And having said that i must recommend this to fans.
This video game turned B-movie… may be funny and/or entertaining for some.
Based on the multi million selling fighting games series created by Namco.
