Bellflower (2011)
Two friends spend all their free time building flame-throwers and weapons of mass destruction in hopes that a global apocalypse will occur and clear the runway for their imaginary gang “Mother Medusa”.
Directed, Written and Starring Evan Glodell. Bravo!
“Lord Humungus cannot be defied.” - Lord Humungus.
Woodrow and Aiden are best buds who love Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981). So much so, that they make their own flame-throwers and ride a modified “Mother Medusa” mobile. The apocalypse is nigh!
And then… the end begins… One falls madly in love with a quirky and fun blonde. The dynamic duos friendship is put to the test. Love is a BITCH.
TRIVIA: No functionality of the Medusa car was faked during filming. The real life the car is equipped with two flamethrowers, smoke screen, a bleach drift-kit, adjustable rear suspension, and 3 surveillance cameras; all controlled from the dashboard.
So why the love? This film hit my gut in a way i could never have imagined. A wicked apocalyptic journey with lessons on love and… Friendship - The key element in this fantastic indie fantasy.
I loved the car and the texture of the film. Gritty and gnarly. Badass, and yet carries a torch for romance and life.
Physical and Emotional devastation! The acting, script and overall production was superb. The use of words like “dude” and “awesome” made it easier for (me) audiences to relate to the content.
Women can be the end of all things men know. Portrayed in this film with violence and ruthlessness of love. The tattoo bit was harsh! Sometime we need to listen to our friends, they may just save us from impending doom.
“You are Lord Fucking Humongous: the Master of Fire, the King of the Wasteland.”
Imagine being trapped in a gray world between friendship and love. What would you choose?

Cookers (2001)
After stealing a huge stash of drugs, speed freaks Hector and Darena plan to cook up an enormous batch of crystal meth and get rich quick. Hectors old buddy Merle has the perfect hideout / meth lab, an old abandoned farmhouse in the woods where no one will ever find them. Turns out. they may not be alone after all. Paranoid and tormented by demons and terrifying visions, they fall prey to their descending spiral of drug use and mysterious horrifying hallucinations causing the scared and frightened trio to ultimately turn deadly against each other.
Drugs and horror, always a good combination! A good indie or student film, super B haunted house story with some sketchy dealers.
It’s paranoia vs the supernatural in this den of sin. When drugs are present expect a psychological horror. I appreciated the effort put on camera movement and editing, typical amateur movie.
Special effects and scares were cheap. I wasn’t kidding when i described this looking like a student film.
The acting and characters were believable enough and did their jobs rather well. But… It’s kinda hard to appreciate… slow pacing and loads of dialogue drown the horror. Like most drug films, this has got some drama.
Whoever suggested this and gave it high ratings must’ve been on meth.
Crack houses are sad and depressing…

The Freebie (2010)
A young couple decides to give each other a night off, no questions asked.
They should have tried a threesome 1st! A look into middle age relationships, an independent film written, directed and starring (relatively unknown actress) Katie Aselton.
It’s a simple story of spicing-up a stale relationship. Too simple if you ask me… was there even a script? or just a sequence guide? It’s an experiment with infidelity.
the main man here is Dax Shepard, who’s been reaching to the world of romantic comedies. Though i found similarities between his character and mine, it wasn’t enough to keep my attention.
Bah… i didn’t like it…

Colin (2008)
Our hero Colin is bitten by a Zombie; he dies and returns from the dead. We follow him as he wanders through suburbia during the throes of a cadaverous apocalypse.
An astonishing indie look into Z-day. Written, edited, directed and produced by Marc Price. Filmed with the tiniest budget ever. And yet delivering a pretty good story.
Eerie and scary enough to beat some popular titles. A lot of chaotic scenes that may even be made as they went. It’s got a “real” vibe to it plus dramatic sequences.
Pretty good zombie indie, with a classic look.

Excision (2008)
A neglected teen takes refuge in the dreams that used to haunt her and orchestrates a shocking plan to prove her worth to her disapproving parents.
18 minutes of my time well spent! Writer/Director Richard Bates Jr. delivers a nice little medical horror treat.
Tessa Ferrer did a really good job as the medical-curious troubled teen. Such great talent cannot go to waste. A very simple and predictable short film, but enjoyable for gore lovers. Some dark imagery and artsy attempts.
A big THANK YOU to itsnotmuchofacheeseshop for sending me a link. Finally! the long wait is over.

August Underground’s Mordum (2001)
Two serial killers go on a murdering rampage as one films the outcome from behind a video camera. One of the most realistically portrayed simulated snuff films.
This is probably something I would’ve enjoyed during my “dark angsty-teen” years. I wasn’t too happy about “the film”… (extremely amateurish and close to degrading type porn) but the effort in portraying believable deaths were so much better then it’s predecessors like: Cannibal Holocaust (1980).
So there isn’t really anything but kill kill kill, stab stab stab, rape rape rape all captured with a handy-cam. Very violent and graphic. You also have the “killers” who look like depraved youths seeking fun in massacring innocent bystanders (it seemed too random). And these characters were just… insane/cracked out/degenerates of society.
Tagged as “The sickest film ever made”, the producers dare you to watch. A lot of mixed reviews on the stupidity/no talent vs quality/substance of this movie. The question is if you can handle it?
On a personal note: I think it was a bad choice on my part, to view this before going to bed last night. It really had nothing to offer but violence.

priestpoetandthepig replied to your photo: August Underground’s Mordum (2001) Two serial…
August Underground is shit. If it looks like shit and smells like shit, then it must be shit. Nothing but gimmick “torture porn” nonsense. The 70s and video nasties done it better 20 years ago.
lol YEAH, there is NO story at all and it does look, smells, sounds like shit. It is shit, but without the shit, we can never appreciate crap (tolerable to some degree films). Someone’s gotta watch these flicks… (i’m glad to know i’m not the only one’s who’s seen this so called Art-Gore “film”)
