Moneyball (2011)
The story of Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane’s successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players.
Strategy and nuvo-intellect rules the game! An inspirational story of a lowly team and their manager.
They can do no wrong! Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill are the odd couple in this sports drama. Pitt is undeniably a winner in his acting efforts, it’s hard to say “he sucks”. BUT Hill gets out of the teen scene to take on bigger things. Kudos to the casting director who put these two together.
Billy Beane meets Pete Brand a math & statistics genius who comes up with a formula for choosing players, versus the traditional way of scouting. The battle between strategy, loyalty and tradition come into play. Affecting the relationships, egos and personalities of our modern day heroes. Technology has come a long way… accept it.
Reality captured. The script and dialogue were superb! Adding some comedic moments to the drama and chaos. A feel good flick for sports fans! Out with the old, in with the new.
High caliber. Well rounded and delivered at a professional level of play. Fun for the whole family and rowdy baseball fans.

Snowtown (2011)
Based on true events, 16 year-old Jamie falls in with his mother’s new boyfriend and his crowd of self-appointed neighborhood watchmen, a relationship that leads to a spree of torture and murder.
Based on a true story and the books: The Snowtown Murders by Andrew McGarry and Killing for Pleasure by Debi Marshall.
Disturbing! and a brutal Aussie flick by director Justin Kurzel. The horror of humanity.
Trapped in a world of violence and sexual frustrations. John is a sick motherfucker. Come Jaime join John in the dark side. This brings up WHY vigilantes are a threat to society.
The “Bodies in Barrels” murdersstory of the most famous Australia serial killer John Bunting.
The acting was SUPERB! You can feel they went “all in” on their performances. Everyone played their part well and delivered one of the most traumatizing films from down under.
Rape, pedophilia and murder. The pacing was a bit slow, but the weight of the issues tackled kept me glued. You just know in the back of your head “This will not end well” - for our characters.
TRIVIA: More than 250 suppression orders prevented publication of details of this case. In early 2011, a judge lifted the remaining orders in response to a request by the producers of the film Snowtown, a dramatic account of the murders.
Deep and brave in many ways. Not an award winning piece, one that opens eyes. Clean and properly done.
Abuse in it’s purest form. Evil camouflaged. Mankind at its worst.

127 Hours (2010)
A mountain climber becomes trapped under a boulder while canyoneering alone near Moab, Utah and resorts to desperate measures in order to survive.
Yeah, cut that shit out! An exceptional tale about one man’s determination to survive. Emotional, captivating and gratifying!
What a beautiful tragedy translated by visionary writer/director Danny Boyle. The man responsible for such great films like: the underdog tale of Slumdog Millionaire (2008), the iconic druggie film Trainspotting (1996), the innovative zombie film 28 Days Later… (2002), the vacation epic The Beach (2000), the kiddie and quirky Millions (2004) and one of the best and most underrated sci-fi films Sunshine (2007).
The “man of the hours” is rising star James Franco. I felt ya dude, and i thought this was an award winning portrayal/performance.
The use of hand held cameras gave it that “real” feel, paired along side beautiful establishing shots and an awesome soundtrack to boot. This film was the total package.
You can see/read all the praises given to the film/actor/director everywhere, so i’m gonna jump to my favorite part/s: The gore! and (trivial) details…
While watching the film audiences would probably ask themselves “did he really record/film himself? or is it an add-on of the filmmakers?” I was surprised that Aron Ralston (really) DID make a daily video diary while he was stuck in that canyon/predicament. Smart guy, he didn’t show it to the media… It must be worth a hell lot now. And the camcorder used in the film was the actual one used when he was trapped.
TRIVIA: The amputation scene was done in one take with multiple cameras because only one prosthetic arm was created.
Gore sweet gore! Loved the amputation scene. I heard (some) audiences walked out of the theater?!? solid!!! You know it’s coming… why so shocked?
This was a spectacular film. Sound, visuals, production and message. A real treat from start to end.
*I dunno if it’s just me, but i got that vibe/feel from Into the Wild (2007). A Man vs. wild thing i guess, surviving the wilderness etc. And somewhat orchestrated very much like The Beach (2000).
And it also reminded me of one of my favorite horror movie lines: “Live or Die, make your choice” - Jigsaw
I highly recommend it, EVERYONE must see this movie.

The King of Kong (2007)
Diehard video game fans compete to break World Records on classic arcade games.
This movie Kicks Ass!! You can cut the tension with a knife kind of rivalry. Not the best cinematography, but very very entertaining!!! At some point i thought this film was fake, due to the extremes these people go to win at video games. One character really made think twice, “are there really douche bags like that on this planet?”. Apparently so, because this film is ALL TRUE. It’s a semi documentary-slash-drama. ENJOY!
